Bio: Stéphane Robolin is an associate professor of English at Rutgers University, New Brunswick.  A former director of Rutgers’s Center for African Studies, he teaches courses in African and African diaspora literature, postcolonial studies, critical race studies, and spatial theory.  He is the author of Grounds of Engagement: Apartheid-Era African American and South African Writing, which won the 2017 African Literature Association First Book Prize in Scholarship. Robolin is currently at work on a study that examines the underground movement of banned books in apartheid South Africa entitled “Subterranean Circulations.”
