Hanan Kashou is Associate Teaching Professor and Arabic Language Coordinator at the Department of African, Middle Eastern, and South Asian Languages and Literatures (AMESALL). She received her PhD in Near Eastern Language and Cultures from the Ohio State University. She has many years of teaching experience in Arabic language, culture and literature. She has taught advanced, intermediate, and elementary course in the Arabic language, as well as advanced literature courses, and Arabic culture, and Literature courses in translation.
She has served on a number of committees and served as an advisor for several student groups including The Arabic Language Club at Rutgers.

- Areas of Research/Interest:
Her research interests include Modern Arabic literature and language, postcolonial, and feminist theory, and the cultural history of the Arabic novel. During the course of her master’s studies her focus was also in language acquisition and pedagogy, workforce development, adult education, and training.
